We all need to work together to help #flattenthecurve and stop the spread of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases. Eagle Bay Mercantile has taken extra precautions when it comes to sanitation in store, and we now must take extra measures to help keep our staff and community members safe.

COMMUNICABLE DISEASE SAFETY PLAN - UPDATED APRIL 8, 2022

On April 8, 2022, the provincial health officer announced an order requiring employers to re-activate their Communicable Disease Safety Plans. Please see below for the latest policy changes effective immediately.

➙ Masks are not required to enter the store, but they are recommended.

➙ We are limiting the amount of customers in store to a MAXIMUM of 20 people. We are further limiting the amount of customers in the wine/hard liquor room to a MAXIMUM of 2 people at a given time to ensure that physical distancing can be followed, due to the small square footage of the space.

➙ We have suspended our coffee bar until further notice to help reduce the points of contact in the store.

➙ We will not be accepting any returns of beer cans and bottles until further notice. H204U water jugs will still be accepted.

➙ We have placed YELLOW shoe prints on the floor to encourage physical distancing (6' between yourself and others when possible).

➙ Please use the hand sanitizer provided at the front door when you enter and exit the store.

➙ When an employee asks for your ID for alcohol, tobacco or lottery purchases, we ask that you hold your ID so it is visible and allows identification for these controlled products.

➙ We encourage the use of debit or credit with the tap feature enabled, although cash will still be accepted.

➙ We are enforcing an hourly sanitization checklist for our employees to complete on areas such as doors, handles, cash registers, pin pads, and counters, telephones, etc.

➙ We have installed plexiglass physical barriers at our till area so physical distancing can be maintained.

➙ We have asked our employees to take precautionary measures to safeguard their health, including staying home if they have any symptoms such as runny nose, fever, shortness of breath, sore throat, sneezing, or respiratory issues - we ask that you do the same.

➙ Reusable shopping bags will still be accepted, but we ask that customers to pack the bags themselves. If you require assistance packing your reusable bags, our staff will assist you, followed by handwashing practices. Boxes or flats will still be provided at no charge.

➙ If you have arrived back to Canada, please SELF ISOLATE for the required 14 days and have someone do your shopping for you.

➙ Please consider shopping alone when possible to help limit risks.

Thank you for support and understanding during these unprecedented times, and a special thanks to everyone doing their part to help #flattenthecurve.
